when I was little, I had a panic attack while in bed one night. I was thinking about death and what it truly means to not exist.

my dad came in to my room and calmed me down in the only way he could- by telling me about the day he realized what death meant. he was sitting in the bath and thought of cemeteries, the hundreds of people underground who have passed and how he will one day pass too, and the world will keep living without him in it.

my brother modeled for me, playing the role of my young father as he, for the first time, is understanding mortality and existence.
